India’s GCC ecosystem is entering a defining phase.
With 2,100+ GCC hubs, 2.36 million skilled professionals and USD 98.4 billion in revenue, India’s GCC story is moving far beyond traditional cost and delivery models.
GCC exports as a proportion of India’s total services exports have risen from 19.7% in 2019 to 23.5% in 2026, highlighting the growing role of GCCs in India’s services export economy.
What makes this shift significant is not simply the scale of the ecosystem — it is the nature of the work being done.
GCCs are increasingly becoming centers for:
→ AI and advanced technology→ Product engineering and innovation→ Intellectual property creation→ Digital transformation→ Global business strategy→ Enterprise decision-making
India is no longer positioning itself simply as a destination for global operations. It is increasingly becoming a place where global products, platforms, technologies and ideas are created.
As Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has earlier said:
“an increasing share of the world’s ideas, patents, products, algorithms, platforms, and enterprise capabilities are conceived, engineered, and led from India.”
That ambition could fundamentally reshape the role of GCCs in India’s economic growth story.
The next question is no longer how many GCCs India can attract.
It is:
How much global innovation can India lead through them?
